Engagements in Downtown Dallas & Lee Park

Ashley & Ryan were a blast during their engagement session and I can't wait for their wedding! We were able to get up on top of the Davis Building for a few shots, then wandered around downtown a bit & headed to Lee Park to wrap things up. They kept me laughing the whole time, which really should be the other way around but I'm not complaining!

Moving Day!!

I'm so excited to finally be moved into our new house! It's been over 5 years since we last moved, and have apparently accumulated A LOT of stuff during that time!!! I have vowed to never move again, lol. I think it was worth it though - we love Fort Worth so far. :-) Here's a couple of our cutie "helping" out.....

I love the character and charm in the old building. Maria and her mom incorporated a little bit of Spanish flair into the details - what reception is complete without Flamenco Dancers?!?

I couldn't believe how small and adorable Anabelle was when I saw here. We photographed Lauren & Don's wedding and I was so excited to hear about the new arrival!! She was just over a week at our session, so tiny!

Lindsay & David decided to have an intimate ceremony at the Church of the Incarnation followed by a dinner at Tillman's Roadhouse (if you've never been there you must go!) on Friday for a small group of family & friends. The room they were in must have been an interior decorator's dream job - so cool! Each guest had a handwritten note from the bride and groom waiting for them at their seat upon arrival - Jeff and I thought that was such a sweet unique touch. Then they had a huge reception on Saturday night at the House of Blues. It was so much fun to spend time with the wonderful couple and their families!

We meet up at the Kimbell Art Museum for their session. Anish is an architect & the museum happens to be his favorite building (and luckily allows photography) so it was the perfect location!!! Don't they look great together!?!

The arboretum was in full bloom for Mehreen & Rizwan's session. I don't think I've ever seen so much color around there before! It was just before Easter, so there were adorable little kids running around with Easter Baskets - so cute! We had just as much fun people watching as actually shooting I think....

Kelly & Matt's Dallas Wedding

Ok, I'm finally ready to get back into this blogging thing, lol. :-) I promise to start posting more!

Kelly & Matt's wedding was the perfect "last wedding" before I officially went on maternity leave - a gorgeous and fun couple, an awesome venue (Hickory Street Annex), and a beautiful day. My feet were about to fall off by the end of the night, but it was completely worth it!

He is 2 weeks old today - I can't believe how fast the time has gone by! Of course you kind of lose track of things when you're waking up every 2 hours, lol.

Dylan tried to stay in as long as possible, but finally made his appearance 10 days late. He was 9 pounds, 8 ounces and 23 inches long - so he's a big boy! His Dad was 11 pounds 2 ounces when he was born, so I was really happy Dylan didn't try to out do Jeff - ha ha ha.

Here's a few photos we've taken of him so far. We are so in love with him!!!

Portrait's at the firehouse

The Coppell fire department was nice enough to let us come by and shot a few quick shots at the local firehouse. :-) Fire trucks are Ian's "thing" right now, so he was in awe. The only time he held still was when we stuck him in the fire boots - and that was for about 3 nanoseconds - ha ha ha. He had a blast, and we managed to sneak in a few good shots!

Anniversary Boudoir Session

Jenn and her sister Jill each did a boudoir session at the studio for their anniversaries not to long ago. We had a blast spending the afternoon capturing awesome shots of the two girls - they are truly gorgeous inside and out. After I posted the images for them, I received this message from Jenn:

"Words cannot express how proud I am of my pictures. And the experience in and of itself was awesome and rewarding.This experience has really opened my eyes to this niche of boudoir photography and the impact it can have on women. I have struggled with being too modest and not confident in my sexuality my whole life. My husband was so proud to see me finally have confidence. He started noticing a change in me before I even gave him my gift....So thank you again!!!!!!"

Isn't that awesome - it actually brought tears to my eyes! I've always thought the boudoir sessions were just as much for the amazing women that do the session as it is for the loving man they give the images to - it was great to hear it from a client as well! Girls rock!!!

Seffanie & Ryan had the hardest time finding the perfect venue for their ceremony and reception, and finally found a friends house out on the lake - it was absolutely perfect and gorgeous! :-) After the ceremony we all headed over to a local golf course to snap some images because they love to golf together - how fun!

We've had the chance to tell a lot of you, but I figured it was time for an "official blog post" - ha ha ha. Jeff and I are expecting our first baby in January! My bump is getting pretty obvious nowadays, so Jeff took a few shots of me this past week with my soon to be sold MINI. :-) I LOVE my car, but it's not exactly family friendly (me, my 6' 4" husband, a baby and stroller are not all fitting in there :-). As photographers we figured a photo shoot was the best way to say goodbye - kinda corny, I know!

It was kinda fun to be the model for once. :-) Jeff did an awesome job - he was happy to hear that I forgot the tripod so we couldn't use the timer and get him in a few shots. We'll be doing a real maternity session with another awesome photographer when I'm a little bigger, so he won't escape being in front of the camera forever. ;-)

Engagements in Grapevine

Megan and Antonio are two of the sweetest people I've had the chance to work with! We finally were able to meet up the historic Grapevine area after a couple of rain delays, but the weather was perfect so it was worth the wait. :-) I am so happy that the 107 degree days are finally behind us for the year!!!!

Suzie & Chad

Whew - it has been a crazy summer!!! I've been so busy I've hardly had time to update the blog (I'm sure a few of you have noticed!) but I promise to get back on track - sorry to leave all of you in suspense so long. :-)

Back to Suzie & Chad - they are two of the sweetest people ever! We had a blast covering their wedding. Their ceremony was in the Chapel at the gorgeous Highland Park United Methodist Church, which has some of the strictest photography restrictions Jeff and I have ever run into. We weren't allowed IN the chapel!! We had to stand out in the hallway for the entire ceremony! Thanks to our trusty zoom lenses we still got great shots, but I'm sure we looked funny - 2 photographers and a videographer all standing in a doorway leaning in as far as possible - ha ha ha.

Bass Hall Bridal Show 2008

We recently did our first bridal show & had a blast! Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth, I look forward to chatting with you! I had a wedding the same afternoon, so two awesome gals - Casey & Becca - worked the both for us. Thank you so much, we couldn't have done it without you two! I also have to thank my wonderful husband for building the amazing walls you see below. As with most construction projects, we thought it would take one afternoon & it ended up taking much much longer, but he didn't complain (much anyway - ha ha ha). Love you!

Leah & Philip had a gorgeous black & white theme throughout the wedding. I remember them telling me about an amazing zebra print rug they were planning on bringing into Arlington Hall & have been looking forward to seeing the finished product ever since!!! :-) Leah & Philip are two of the sweetest people I've ever meet, and their families were a joy to spend the day with!

Jean Paul & Hortencia

This gorgeous couple eloped a few months ago, so we got together for a newlywed session. :-) Hortencia even wore an adorable white dress! They both were naturals in front of the camera, and so in love....

A Skydiving Groom

We've done a ton of weddings so far, but this was defiantly a first! Anthony and his groomsmen went skydiving the morning of the wedding! Of course Jeff and I weren't going to miss that!

I have to admit I got a little nervous for them when I noticed the "check list" attached to the back of the suits!!! I guess a reminder doesn't hurt. ;-)

Happily no mishaps occured & the rest of the wedding day went perfectly! The ceremony was at the SMU's Perkins Chapel and the reception at the Royal Oaks Country Club. Jenny & Marc's Big Day!

I've been looking forward to Jenny & Marc's wedding for months! I'd heard great things about Hotel Palomar and was excited about finally having the opportunity to cover a Jewish Ceremony. :-) Because the two would see each other before the ceremony for the ketubah signing we had the chance to go around the hotel and take a ton of great images using all the modern decor. Such a gorgeous couple and hotel!

Bonnie & Aaron are married!

Bonnie and Aaron had their moving ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth and the reception at the Modern Art Museum.

Bonnie had the awesome idea to take the getaway car immediatly after the ceremony to the downtown area for a few shots of just the two of them - it gave everyone time to pile out of the chapel & we were back just in time to do the family portraits. It worked like a charm - I might have to start recommending that to other couples. :-)

I love this candid of all the grandparents right before they walked in for the ceremony - and the beautiful ceiling in the chapel.

Not only was it their wedding, but also Grandma's 80th birthday so they surprised her with a bit of cake and a round of "Happy Birthday to You." She was soooo shocked!

Caroline & Jason

I've been looking forward to Caroline & Jason's wedding for awhile, and I couldn't be happier for the two of them! Caroline looked gorgeous, and everything went perfectly - well there was almost a major fire, but disaster was avoided! Apparently right before guests arrived at the reception venue the cake table caught on fire! The fire department had to come out, but the cake came through unharmed and everything was perfect again by the time we got there! After this experience & having my veil catch on fire during the cake cutting at my wedding from candles around the cake, I have decided this is the most dangerous part of a wedding - ha ha ha.

Meghan & Clint

We meet down in the Fort Worth Stockyards, along with all of the race fans in town for the Nascar races the other weekend. :-) We thought a Friday afternoon might have a few people around, but it was packed! We had awesome light though, and some great rustic spots to shoot around. I've always wanted to do a session down at the stockyards - I also think bridals would be a blast around there as well. Meghan & Clint were up for anything, even a ride on the mechanical bull. The things we do for a great photo - you guys are awesome!

Goin' to the country

I recently headed down to Ennis to do Becca & Geoff's senior portraits. Becca's parents have a few acres with a gorgeous garden & a lot of fun accents. They also knew of a great barn nearby, so we tromped around in a cow pasture to get some fun shots. It's not everyday I get to do a session with cows in the background! :-)

Black & White

I can't wait to see Leah & Philip's reception at Arlintgon Hall in a couple of weeks - they have a lounge black & white theme planned that sounds gorgeous. She even wanted to carry the theme into her bridal portraits. We took most of them with a simple black background, so it'll match everything else at the reception! I did leave a few in color to show of Leah's gorgeous eyes. :-)

Trashing the Dress

Jessica & Mike were married last year, and she decided to do a trash the dress session as a kind of birthday present. :-) We did a few in their adorable kitchen, then headed out to some railroad tracks and a waterfall in Plano. We had to fight some serious crowds around the waterfall (I wouldn't recommend trying to photos there on a Saturday afternoon!!!) but it was the perfect location!

Blake's Senior Session

Blake's mom won a session with us at a silent auction last year. She said there was a bidding war towards the end & she had to stand guard next to our certificate - how funny!

Downtown Ft. Worth

Seems like I'm not really in the Fort Worth area very much these days, so I was excited when Meredith and Ryan decided to do their engagements around Sundance Square. :-) Turns out that Ryan proposed to Meredith outside of the courthouse & then they had dinner at one of the great restaurants - all the more reason to have some great images taken in the area!

Here's a couple of my favorites - we all ran out into the middle of the street to get the courthouse in the background. Not necessarily the safest thing, but it was worth it!

Mellissa & Matt

These two are so in love it's crazy! They had no problem following my requests to kiss a bit, or to snuggle really close. :-) Melissa had already hired her wedding photographer when she saw an engagement session I did with one of her friends, but she decided to have us do the a session with them anyway! I'm so honored when I hear things like that - thanks guys!

Wine in Grapevine

Rachel & Kevin are getting married in Indiana next year, and having their reception at a vineyard up there so the Delany Vineyards in Grapevine seemed like the perfect location for engagements. I've driven by the vineyards many times, but this was my first time to actually stop. It's such a great space and the ladies there were so friendly! They do receptions there, so if you're still looking for a venue you should check them out.

I was packing my camera gear into the car and Rachel & Kevin came out with a bottle of wine for me - they are sooo sweet! My first gift during a photo session!!! ;-)

To the Movies

Alecia and Jeff love going to the movies (my hubby Jeff and I do too!) and we thought it would be great to incorporate that into their engagement session. They often go to midnight movies at the Inwood Theater in Dallas, so Alecia called them up and asked if we could stop by to take some photos! It's such an adorable theater & Alecia & Jeff were hilarious! I had to stop taking photos a few times b/c I was laughing so hard!

I love the snow! Not so much driving in it, but otherwise it's the best! I was born in Virginia, and we lived in Kansas for awhile when I was younger, so I remember all the fun I had during the winter. :-) It brings out the kid in all of us! Hope you all are having a blast & staying warm!

Philadelphia - Cheese steaks and Engagements

We were in the area for a photography business seminar - so we meet Kimberly & Thomas in downtown Philadelphia for their engagement session & had a blast! The weather was being a little difficult, but Kimberly tracked down some great local spots for us to shoot at - we got a few stares at the train station but I think it was worth it! We took a break from shooting and Thomas took us all to the "most famous" cheese steak joint in the area. I forgot the name :-) but it was tasty! Did you all know that the authentic ones are made with Cheez Whiz? Jeff tried it, I wasn't daring enough - ha ha. Thanks guys for a fun evening, can't wait 'til the wedding!

First bridal session in the new studio!

A trip to San Antonio

We recently had the opportunity to travel down to San Antonio for Kimberly & Kenny's wedding. They were married in the fabulous historic San Fernando Cathedral. San Antonio is such a gorgeous and relaxing area - I can see why Kim & Kenny choose that area for their day! :-)

One of my goals for this year is to post more helpful information for all of you brides out there! :-) First up is a list of great venues around Dallas - some are a well known, others are a bit off the beaten path. I can't take the credit for pulling this together, Amy (see her wedding here) had a bit of a reception venue crisis and researched all these for the sake of her sanity. Tyler & Blake tie the knot!

Tyler & Blake were our first wedding of 2008, and they started the year off with a touching ceremony & a great party! The two families were filled with love & over flowing with joy for the happy couple, it was an honor for Jeff & I to be around such emotion. :-)

Natalie & Tony's Christmas Wedding

Earlier this month we had the honor of covering Natalie & Tony's wedding at the Victorian House out in Kaufman. It was such a moving ceremony - their love for each other was obvious and I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole church. Tony's dad performed the ceremony & it was soooo sweet when he got a little choked up at the beginning of the ceremony. :-)

Kathy & Ben

This is Kathy, but the groom isn't Ben. :-) We were taking some photos in Downtown Ft. Worth, and another photographer came to the same area with the groom & groomsmen from her wedding. Kathy (being the crazy girl that she is :-) went up to the other groom and took photos with him!!!! Now when his real bride gets her photos back, there will be a few with him and another bride - how funny is that!!! The groom assured us that his bride is easy going, and will find it hilarious. Of course his groomsmen wanted him to kiss Kathy, but he put his foot down at that one - ha ha ha. I wish I had gotten the name of the other photographer, so I could find out how it all went!

Check out the album below to see Kathy with her real groom - ha ha! They had their reception at Ranger's Stadium - so before the reception we got to go out onto the field for a quick photo session. They turned a set of lights on for us, and we got to go where ever we wanted! Kathy is a huge baseball fan, so I know those images will be her favorite - I'm sure you'll notice a slight baseball theme throughout the wedding! She was even wearing her autographed Twins jersey while she was getting ready.

Lesley & Jason's Wedding

Lesley & Jason had a gorgeous wedding at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas and then their reception was at City Club downtown. In between the two we had about an hour or so to wander around the West End with the bridal party to get some awesome shots! Oh - and Lesley's best friend is also named Janelle!!! I've only meet one other Janelle in my life, so it was fun to get to chat with another. ;-) We complained about how our shared name is never printed on the key chains, pencils, or any other souvenir we've ever looked at - ha ha ha!

Katie's Bridals at the Belo

Katie & Ryan are having their reception at the Belo Mansion downtown at the end of this month, and Katie thought it would be a great place to do her bridals as well! There are so many fun corners to shoot in around the Mansion, and then we walked around Dallas a bit to find a few outdoor shots. The funniest part was when we passed by a nude headless sculpture and Katie decided to imitate the art - watch the slide show to see how it turned out! It's probably not the image that'll get selected to be enlarged - but it's still funny - ha ha ha.

Amy + Rich

Amy & Rich are two of the most relaxed and easy going couples I have meet - and they wanted their wedding to reflect that. The two were out mingling with the guests as they arrived & the evening seemed like a fun cocktail party with old friends catching up & dancing to great music. As I think Amy put it one time - there just happened to be a wedding in the middle of it! :-) The had an awesome 15 piece band (yes, 15) - The Hunter Sullivan Band who kept everyone moving all night long. Amy had a heck of a time finding a location that suited their style, but The Apartment was perfect!

Lauren & Kerry have made sure that their fun & funky personalities came through in their engagement and bridal photos, so I was really looking forward to what they had in minde with for the wedding! I'd never been to the YWCA (yes, YWCA instead of YMCA)in downtown Fort Worth but it was gorgeous - it has a wonderful vintage feel to it, perfect for Lauren & Kerry! And Lauren had all of the details thought through - down to adorable envelopes hand stamed with silverware illustrations and homemade cookies in the shape of wedding cakes. :-)

And as a bonus - I found out they are good friend with two of my old high school friends so I got to catch up with them! (Hi Joni & Derick!!!)

This was our second opportunity to shoot at Maple Manor - Christy did a wonderful job of setting everything up! It was a gorgeous afternoon with perfect weather for their outdoor ceremony in the garden. Good food & great friends make for a perfect evening!

Lauren & Don had their ceremony at a gorgeous church in Plano & their reception at the Marriott at Legacy Town Center. We didn't realize it ahead of time, but it was the same day as the Plano Balloon Festival, so we had gorgeous scenery on the ride to the reception. I didn't even realize until afterwards, but I caught one of the balloons in a photos of Lauren & Don leaving the church!!

Sarah & Chris called us up awhile ago & said they wanted to do something really different for their engagements photos and had the idea to do some underwater???!!! Of course, I said it sounds awesome! They live up in Austin Ranch & had access to this great infinity pool that we used....

Rachel + Richard = Fun

Rachel & Richard are such a fun and easy going couple, we had a blast working with them. Rachel is from Ireland, & all her family made the trip over to Texas to celebrate with them, so I got to hear people talking in the coolest accent all day long! She also had two Irish dancers come perform and give a dancing lesson at the reception - it was a blast!!!

A Stylish Soiree did an awesome job with all the flowers & coordinating everything - I just love this ring bearer pillow!!!

I had to put this image on here. All of the bridal party got ready at the W downtown, and we had heard that Tommy Lee was there - I was snapping a few close-ups of Rachel while we waited for the limo & all of a sudden all the girls started screaming!! I was so focused on getting Rachel's emotion, I didn't turn around in time & I just got to see his back through 2 sets of glass doors!!!! Her expression is priceless though, so I'm not bitter - ha ha ha. It was hilarious!

A Retro Vibe

A vintage hamburger shop, an old soda shop & a hotel - not really the first locations that come to mind for a bridal session, but I'm so glad Lauren found these great spots! I played around with some textures on this one, I think it gives it a unique, timeless look...

And I had to show this photo - Lauren said she wanted to take a few shots in front of my MINI - I love my car so I told her one of those would defiantly make it on the blog - ha ha ha!

We (heart) Mexico!

Amy & Tim planned an awesome destination wedding in Mexico just west of Cancun & had us tag along with them to capture their special day. Amy was a bride's maid at the wedding of one of our favorite couples from last year, Kelli & Mark, and we were so excited when she decided to hire us too! The ceremony was held under a massive gazebo, with breathtaking views of the ocean behind them - it really was the perfect setting!

Sarah & Adam are Married!

Isn't he adorable!!!???? We had a blast driving around Coppell (Sonic Cherry-Limeades in hand) to all the great photo "hotspots." He was a trooper and gave us at least a few good smiles at every location. :-) You can tell by the last photo that modeling wore him out though!!!!

A Motorcycle & a Purple Wall

Rachel & Richard brought along their awesome bike to their engagement session & we had a blast using it as a "prop" on one of the back alleys in deep ellum. Apparantly we were laughing so hard the owner of condo we were shooting behind came out to see what all the noise was about!! He was cool though, and didn't mind us using his home as a backdrop!
